Learn to Build a Shelter from Nature with Francisco Jaramillo
As part of the exhibition HEART·H, curated by Sylvia Sánchez Montoya at CCA, Andratx, we’ve invited Colombian designer Francisco Jaramillo to lead a workshop on empirical building with materials found in nature.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will engage in material research, territorial exploration, and empirical building techniques to create a collective shelter using natural materials from the Tramuntana forest surrounding the CCA. The resulting collective piece from this workshop will be showcased in the exhibition.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Dates: March 7 & 8, 2025
Time: 10 AM – 5 PM
Location: CCA, Andratx – Mallorca
Cost: €120
Participants may opt to dine at the CCA restaurant for an additional €10 per day.
PROGRAM
Day 1 – March 7
Morning: Material exploration: research on the surrounding natural resources, analyzing their characteristics (insulation, heating, cooling, etc.)
Afternoon: Design and definition of the piece
Day 2 – March 8

About Francisco Jaramillo
Colombian designer Francisco Jaramillo works at the intersection of art and design, exploring themes such as the environmental crisis, the loss of traditional crafts, and the potential of local materials to address social challenges in Colombia and South America. His practice is deeply rooted in material research, territorial exploration, and craftsmanship, examining the dynamic relationship between humans, objects, and their context.
Jaramillo was shortlisted for the Wallpaper Design Awards (2023) and Dezeen’s Design Sustainable Design category (2024) and has exhibited at renowned institutions, including the Vitra Museum. He currently lives and works between Medellín and Barcelona.
